Lente acquisition de la pratique et construction de l'expérience : vers une gérontocratie organisationnelle ?

Yoann BAZIN

Willing to go further than the commonplace according to which younger people are able to adapt more rapidly than seniors, we feel obligated to remind that the goal of learning is not so much about speed than it is about mastering knowledge for action. Putting this much focus on change might result in the under appreciation of the contribution made by more experimented actors. Thus, we aim at outline an analysis of this experience through the notion of practice. Coming back on the concept, we will try to identify its mechanisms of acquisition and transfer in the mastery of a practical sense. This dexterity of the practitioner is built by and in his action and we will see how it isn't compatible with continuous mutation. This perspective will lead us to put into perspective the importance of endless adaptation and the so-called dynamism of youth. It takes time and practice for the actor to acquire this essential ability to adapt in the exercise of his work. By definition, experience takes time to be built while it is, paradoxically, what will allow the organization and its actors to adapt quickly. This perspective will lead us to the re-appreciation of the actors that are more experimented, and thus older. If an organizational gerontocracy appears to be inflated, we rest assure that a puerocraty is absurd considering knowledge management and the essential aspect of experience in organizations.
