Associate Professor Research
Nima is an economist with specialization in Industrial Organization. He uses both theoretical and empirical methods to study the behavior of platforms in digital and financial markets. One of the main themes of his research is study of behavior of online advertising platforms. Such platforms have become among the largest enterprises in the world and are a debated subject among policy-makers. Nima's research looks into how they strategically design their algorithms to match consumers and advertisers and how their use of data about consumers and firms could affect the outcomes. Another theme of Nima's research is study of financial regulations and in particular credit rating agencies. More specifically, how competition and compensation structure of these rating agencies is affecting their incentives and what are eventual market outcomes. Nima has presented his work in major academic conferences in the field and before major policy-making institutions such as the Europeans Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). Nima has a PhD in Economics from ESSEC Business School, where he also taught several courses on Micro, Macro and Business Economics to students of Grande école, BBA and Masters programs.
